Striae Privacy Policy

The short version: Striae collects nothing. There are no accounts with us, no
analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your music, your credentials, and your
listening history stay on your device and on servers you control.
Who we are
Striae is a music player app for iOS, iPadOS, and Apple Watch that streams music
from media servers you own or control — Plex, Jellyfin, and Subsonic-compatible
servers. It is developed independently and operates no backend services of its own.
What we collect
Nothing. Striae does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data with
the developer or with third parties. The app contains no analytics frameworks, no
advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting services, and no tracking of any kind.
Where your data lives
Everything Striae knows about you stays under your control:
- Server credentials — your Jellyfin or Subsonic username and
password are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device, encrypted by the
operating system. Your Plex sign-in token is stored on your device. Credentials
are sent only to the server you configured, over the connection that server
provides.
- Listening history and statistics — your play history, activity
rings, and recaps are computed and stored entirely on your device. They are
never uploaded anywhere by Striae.
- Playback progress and play counts — if you enable "Sync
plays," Striae reports playback progress to your own media server so
your library reflects what you've listened to. This goes only to the server you
signed into.
- Downloads and artwork — music you download for offline
listening and cached album artwork are stored locally on your device.
- Apple Watch — the watch app receives playback state and
library data directly from your paired iPhone using Apple's device-to-device
communication. Nothing passes through third-party servers.
Services the app talks to
Striae communicates only with services you choose and configure:
- Your media server (Plex, Jellyfin, or a Subsonic-compatible
server such as Navidrome) — for browsing, streaming, lyrics, artwork, favorites,
and playlists. These servers are operated by you, and their handling of your
data is under your control.
- plex.tv — if you sign in with Plex, the app contacts Plex's
authentication service to complete sign-in and discover your servers. That
interaction is governed by
Plex's privacy
policy. Striae itself stores only the resulting access token, on your
device.
- Your Ollama server (optional) — if you connect the
experimental AI playlist feature to a self-hosted Ollama server, your playlist
prompts and a summary of your library catalog are sent to that server. You
operate it; nothing is shared with the developer or any AI provider.
- Apple system services — features like Siri playback requests
and on-device lyric translation are provided by Apple's frameworks on your
device. Translation may download language models from Apple. These are governed
by Apple's privacy
policy.
Children
Striae is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, including
children.
Your rights
Privacy regulations such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights over data that
companies hold about you. Striae's developer holds no data about you, so there is
nothing to access, correct, export, or delete on our side. To remove everything
Striae stores locally, delete the app; to remove play history synced to your media
server, use your server's own tools.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Striae ever changes what data is handled — for example,
adding optional crash reporting — this policy will be updated before that version
ships, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
