Striae is a music player for your own media server — Plex, Jellyfin, and Subsonic-compatible servers like Navidrome — for iPhone, iPad, CarPlay, and Apple Watch.
Striae needs a media server with a music library. On first launch, pick your server type and sign in:
https://jellyfin.example.com) plus your username and password. You can connect one account per service and switch between them in Settings.
Check the address works in Safari on the same device first. If your server is only reachable at home, make sure you're on the same network or have remote access configured on the server (Plex remote access, or a reverse proxy / VPN for Jellyfin and Subsonic). If you use HTTPS with a self-signed certificate, iOS may refuse the connection — a certificate from Let's Encrypt fixes that.
Striae automatically re-probes your server's connections when the network changes and resumes where it left off. If a track still fails, pause and play again — and if it keeps happening, email me with your setup details.
Tap the download button on an album or track. Downloaded music appears in the Downloads section and plays without any connection — including in Airplane Mode. Downloads are stored in original quality on your device.
Lyrics come from your server. Plex provides them with Plex Pass, Jellyfin needs a lyrics plugin or embedded lyric files, and Subsonic servers need lyrics support (Navidrome reads embedded lyrics). If your server has them, Striae shows them — synced when available.
It evens out volume differences between tracks using your server's audio analysis. It's available on Plex with Plex Pass and analysis enabled in your library settings.
The watch app controls playback on your iPhone — play/pause, skip, and volume from your wrist. Keep the phone within Bluetooth or Wi-Fi range of the watch.
It's experimental. If you run an Ollama server on your own machine, you can connect it in Settings → AI and build playlists by describing what you want to hear. Results depend on the model you run. None of your data goes to any AI company — only to your own server.
No. No analytics, no ads, no tracking. See the privacy policy for the details.
If you're on the TestFlight beta, the quickest path is TestFlight's built-in feedback: take a screenshot in the app and share it via the TestFlight prompt, or open TestFlight → Striae → Send Beta Feedback. Otherwise, email rookie_skid.1s@icloud.com.
The most useful reports include: your server type and version, what you tapped, what you expected, and what happened instead.
